Sunday School-Child Care
Are you looking for a warm Church School environment where children are an essential part of a joyful church family - a community that nurtures children's friendships and their formation of faith through learning and play? Then, rest assured when you drop your children off for Sunday School, and head into our Sunday Worship Service.
You’ll find that it is with loving care that Amanda Swinchoski, our Church School Director, along with her dedicated teaching staff, weave together a special fabric of class curriculum, spiritual worship and fun activities that creates such a vibrant Church School. Every Sunday, our nursery cares for our youngest children, while the Montessori-based Godly Play curriculum provides the foundation for our lively elementary school class activities. Our middle school program is co-built by our middle schoolers, which leads to experiential activities and thought-provoking class discussions. There are also broader outreach experiences for our middle schoolers and our high schoolers available through the Episcopal Diocese and The Charles River Deanery Youth Collaborative (a regional Episcopal Diocese collaborative with other parishes in Brookline, Newton, Needham, Wellesley and Dover). This Youth Collaborative program augments youth ministries at our parish by broadening our teens’ awareness of the larger Church and their part in its mission. Specifically, the program offers teens monthly town-wide and regional social and community service mission-based events. One of the favorite annual events is apple pie making to benefit the local food pantries.
Further, church school is organized so children may both train and serve as acolytes, and attend communion during the Sunday Worship service.
The highlight of our children's Church School activities is their participation in our Children's Epiphany Pageant involving young students as actors and older students as set designers and stagehands. Our Children's Choir, directed by Florrie Ives, leads our voices in joyful song. This is a not to be missed event!
